DAY 15: Arrive back in the United Kingdom

The flight from Newark, New Jersey to Birmingham, UK is overnight - approximately 7pm to 7am - however, the flights are getting shorter and are rarely more than six to seven hours. Trouble is, by the time they've spent two hours taking off and giving you dinner, and ninety minutes giving you breakfast, there's little sleeping time left anymore. So, these days, apart from a nap or two, I spend most of the return flight awake. Yawn.

On this trip we saw the sunset (in Newark) and then the sunrise again.

That said, by the time we got to Birmingham Airport, it was raining. Yuck. Below left you can see the ongoing work for the runway extension, so it's a bit of a mess. Soon, we could see the Control Tower and we landed. We had to get through Immigration and Customs as well as picking up checked bags, but it didn't take us too long to get through the airport. As we're only about half an hour away from the Airport, my buddies Theo and Frank were soon checking out their gifts from Hawaii!
